Left alone

They were gone, I don't know when they left but they must’ve forgotten me. How, How did they forget me?. I walked around a little… Out of the side of my eye I saw somebody. I walked over to them , they ran. They were not fast, I caught up to them in no time. I tackled the person. They were wearing a mask. I pulled it off and it was a boy from the other tribe. He had a harakeke bag with food and water gallons. I told him what happend and he said he will help me. But there was a twist, He said “ I'll help if you give me supplies.” I said “ ok” We got wood and started to build a waka. We were using flax to hold it togather. We got to the point Where we were done. I gave him the supplies. Then I set sail

Wind speed - Making an anemometer.

Anemometer

MATERIALS:

  1. Pins
  2. 4 cups
  3. Pencils
  4. 4 straws
  5. Tape

STEPS

  1.   Put 2 holes in each cup
  2.   Put your straws in a cross
  3.  Tape the cross of straws together (go around with tape 3 times)
  4.    Then pin them done in the pencil with a rubber in it
  5. Then put the cups and straws together
Once you have made an anemometer we are going to record the wind speed.

Group size: 4

You will need:

Anemometer (over)

Roles:

  • Timekeeper
  • Counter
  • Recorder
  • Anemometer Manager
  • Wind generator
  1. Mount the anemometer in a place that has full access to the wind from all directions.
  2. When the timekeeper says "Go", the counter in each group will count how many times the marked cup passes them in one minute and write it down.
  3. If possible, repeat the above step four (4) times and record the average number of spins on the chart.

Waste

Hurumanu - Recycling

Aim: To learn practical ways of recycling so that we can make our world a better place.

How can we prevent climate change though recycling these products?

Plastics: Clutters the world
Cycling or walking: No more gas
Paper: Less trees getting cut down
Steel: More waste gone

Video questions:

What is Zero Waste? One of the cheapest and quickest ways a community can immediately reduces climate impact

What can we do on the planet?

  1.   Re-deign way to send things my reducing materials
  2.   Re-duse use in our life styles etc: fix things,Share
What do we need to recycle? Put old food scraps in soil

What does recycling do?Wastes materials

How much of our rubbish is food scraps?90,000 tones for Auckland peoples

What does soil do to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?
When a plant dies it make a type of soil carbon dioxide

What do we need to do?
  1. Have Zero waste

What is a carbon footprint?

How can you make your Carbon Footprint smaller?

ENERGY SAVING TIPS FILM

Name some of the tips.

  1. put food scraps in soil
  2.   Don't use as much plastic as we do

AT WHAT RATES DO DIFFERENT ITEMS DECOMPOSE?

MY INVESTIGATION.

Image result for rates of decomposition

Name: Jackson

  1. How long do they take to decompose?
  2. What resource / fossil fuel are they made from?
  3. How is this resource recycled?
  4. How does this object contribute to climate change

Conclusion:

We found out the the all cycled and only 1 had acidity

Draw a labelled diagram of the Water Cycle

Water cycle words:
  1. Precipitation = The weather
  2. Hurricanes = When clouds from thunder
  3. Storms = When the clouds release a lots and lots of water
  4. Evaporation = When the cloud suck up the mist of water
  5. Carbon Dioxide = Gas that comes out of cars and us
  6. Water = Water is stuff in the sea, our cups, Bath, showers
  7. Oceans = It is a bit of the world with water
  8. Water vapour = Is when the water turns to mist
  9. Freshwater = Water that we drink
  10. Flooding = When the water come higher than the sea level it floods the place

Island story

One day I was out at sea on my way to a island.I was not far away from the island and my boat capsized. All my fresh water and my food was gone. I felt like I was not going to get there. I might die. I started to swim for a bit and then I saw a piece of wood floating in the water. I grabbed it and tried to get on. I got on with a little bit of struggle. I started to roll a bit but I got the hang of it. I floated on that for a day. But night started to fall and It was getting dark. I was getting tired So I layed back and Went to sleep. After a little bit the log flung form under me and I went back in the water. I thought to myself I was secured, The waves where getting bigger and I was too tired to swim. But out of the corner of my eye I seen A tiny Island. I floated over to it and Fell asleep on the soft sand. ZZZzzzz, When I woke up I had a look around and seen a shipwreck. I still had the engine and a winch and some wood. So I gathered everything up and started to build a boat. It started with striping the wood for nails and then making a form of a boat. I started with filling the frame in and I ran out of wood. But I have also seen the piece of wood I floated on. So I Got a sharp rock and filled the rest to the boat in. I put the winch to use and put the Engine on the boat. I was ready to go I got in my homemade boat Or should I say Island made boat and started to set sail. I was out at sea for 5 days and the boat ran out of gas. I Pushed the Engine off and floated to safety. When I got to the island 7 days later I went to the closed restaurant and eat $400 worth of wood and water. The end
