ReplyDeleteHey Jackson,
ReplyDeleteThis is Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey programme 2017-2018! I will be reading your blog posts this summer.
It's great to see your first post! The legend of Maui is a significant part of Maori culture. You have found 3 interesting facts about Maui which were: Maui was a great fisherman, Maui's brothers were mean, and Maui's hook was given to him by his ancestor.
I like the story'How Maui Bought Fire to the World' because the part where Mahuika (fire goddness) gave Maui her fingernails for fire. He kept on asking for more fingernails after... I was horrified when I first read it in primary.
Which story do you like the best? Why?
I would love to read and comment on your next blog post!
All the best,
Jade C.
thank you for the comment jade
DeleteKia Ora Jackson,
ReplyDeleteI’m Dani, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I normally comment on blogs in the Kaikohekohe cluster ( Northland) but I have been lucky enough to get the chance to visit some blogs in the Uru Manuka cluster!
I have enjoyed reading through your blog and exploring your learning that you have done this year. You have posted an impressive amount of Te Reo Maori work. Ka pai!
Congratulations on completing your first activity for the Summer Learning Journey! You have found some good facts about Maui from the myth Maui and the Fish.
I agree with Jade C, my favourite myth about Maui is probably, ‘How Maui Brought Fire to the World’ If you wanted to read it, you can copy and paste this link into your search bar:
http://eng.mataurangamaori.tki.org.nz/Support-materials/Te-Reo-Maori/Maori-Myths-Legends-and-Contemporary-Stories/How-Maui-brought-fire-to-the-world
There are a few more myths and legends on that website that you can read as well if you like.
If you wanted to complete more of the Summer Learning Journey activities you can copy and paste this link into your search bar.

I look forward to reading some of your work soon!
